This coming Sunday at BSM

April 23, 2015

butter-3Here’s what’s on deck for Sunday, April 26th, 2015 at Broad Street Ministry.  Worship’s at 4:00pm.  Rev. Andy Greenhow will preaching about one of the most misunderstood and maligned disciples, Thomas.  The text is John 20:24-28.  Thomas’ doubt in this passage is enshrined.  Here at Broad Street Ministry, as well as within Scripture, doubt is an essential part of our faith.  That for us to really understand what happened in the resurrection, we cannot simply say it happened and we believe it – there has to be room for those who simply cannot imagine news that good. To believe, there has to be doubt.  By enshrining doubt, scripture teaches us that we can have a fruitful faith.  Doubting something is a way to care about it being true – being certain about something is a way to not care about its implications.

We are looking forward to John Francis leading us in Hold On (Eyes On the Prize), My City of Ruins by Bruce Springsteen,  I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For by U2, What if God Was One of Us by Eric Bazilian, and this classic from Pedro the Lion, The Secret of the Easy Yoke.

Every Sunday after worship, we also have community engagement groups.  These groups are a great way to get to know people, maybe learn something about yourselves, one another, and/or God, and get to know a few more peoples’ names.  This Sunday we’ve got two really cool groups on deck.

Introvert Corral: Are you an introvert? Do groups after worship induce anxiety? Introverts unite! Join Cara Blouin  for an introvert corral.

Gaming Discipleship: What’s Gaming Theory? It’s the study of how presenting tasks and community challenges as games can inspire and empower folks to change the world. Join David & Whitney for a discussion of gaming theory and the epic quest that is discipleship.

Broad Street Ministry is a broad-minded faith community committed to extending radical hospitality and creating a spiritual home for all, especially those who feel like they don’t belong anywhere else. For more information click here.
